Sparks Fly this 4th of July!

There will be a few times throughout the summer to rock this red, white and blue print. Not only will "Sparks Fly" be perfect for the Fourth of July, this print shows your American pride. Throw it on and head out to your favorite spot to cheer on USA as they take on Belgium tomorrow in the World Cup! Not into the whole soccer scene? It will be perfect for that Labor Day barbecue with the family or a nice boat outing with friends.

Wanna know a secret? Both the dress and shorts in this print glow in the dark!  When charged by sunlight the fireworks will light up the night, literally. You'll be the talk of the town! Looking for something a little more basic?  These lipstick pink shorts are the perfect substitution for red this year! Pair them with a white or blue top and you are just as patriotic as the next girl.

Old Town's Grand Re-Opening

On May 17, Pink Palm Alexandria celebrated their Grand Re-Opening in a brand new, larger space!  The party started at 10 am when the Lilly jeep arrived on the scene, stopping people in their tracks on King Street. Once the doors opened the first stop was our very own Juice Stand, which served homemade lemonade and a variety of juices for mimosas, as well as cupcakes from Alexandria Cupcake

The first lucky 25 customers were given the chance to pop a balloon for a free mystery gift to take home with their purchase.  For those who were not able to make it to the Pink Palm bright and early, guests were able to enter to win two different raffle gifts throughout the day. One prize was a framed Lilly print in "Elephant Ears" and the other was a tote in "Mai Tai" filled with coordinating goodies.

Wondering what happened to our old Pink Palm location? Our brother store, Natty Beau, moved in and had their Grand Opening on the same day!  To make it one big party we set up a game of corn hole between the two stores! Natty Beau's festivities included mystery gifts, raffles, and giveaways, but the best part was having Southern Proper founder, Emmie Howard, and Director of Special Programs, Dahlia Bennett, join in on the celebrations!

A special thanks to Julien and Heather, of It's Julien and Pineapples and Pearls, for stopping by and featuring our event on their blogs!

Back & Better Than Ever!

We always find it hard to dress for the transition between seasons, especially when winter thaws and spring begins to bloom. Bundling up in the morning ensures you are sweating to death by noon. Here at the Pink Palm we suggest investing in pieces that you can layer! Every once in a while Lilly will bring back a style from previous seasons. We were so excited about the revival of the Briella Dress that two of our Palmettes, Mary Catharine and Kristina, decided to celebrate a warm day by donning the dress for an afternoon of fun.

The Briella is comfortable and easy to throw on while still looking put together.  You can dress it down with Jack Rogers for day or add wedges with a stack of bracelets for a night out.  For those chilly days in March, wear it with boots and layer a cardigan or blazer over it.  This dress will become a year round staple in any Lilly lovers wardrobe!

Bow Tie Belt | Gold Metallic | $48

Three Is Not Always A Crowd

The Spring 2014 collection takes us back to the beginning with inspirations from the life, home, and past creations of the party animal herself, Lilly Pulitzer. Full of vintage silhouettes patterned after the original shift dress and saturated in colors reminiscent of those she wore at the juice stand, we are having a hard time picking which print is our favorite!  One thing we do know is that we love the new Liz shift, which is available in three different prints!

Despite the never ending cold weather, the Palmettes always try to look on the bright side of life, which is exactly what inspired one of our new favorite prints, Sunny Side. What's not to love about a classic pink and green Lilly print designed around the king of the jungle? It's sure to put a smile on your face! Not a typical Lilly girl, but love the idea of a lion print? Roar of the Jungle is the perfect fit for you! Filled with bold greens and vibrant blues, this print will make you feel fierce the second you put it on! The inspiration behind these wild prints came from Lilly's "jungle themed" backyard, made to stand out from the typical manicured Palm Beach lawn.  If there is anything Lilly set out to do it was break the rules and stand out, even when it came to her home! She was even known to have many cats roaming her property and mingling among her party guests. The print "Crazy Cat House" is a tribute to the felines who ruled her house and shift-filled closets.

Jet-setting | Destination: Miami

This winter in DC has been brutal. Near record lows were brought in by the polar vortex and more often than not it seems like fluffy white flakes are falling from the sky and blanketing the city. It’s even harder to face the bitter cold outside when you are surrounded by shorts, skirts, sundresses and beautiful bright, bold colors like the Palmettes are on a daily basis.

It was one of those days where the grass was still sprinkled with snow and everyone was wrapped up in cashmere that Annie, our sun-worshiping beach girl and manager of McLean, knew she couldn't take it anymore – she had to get away. So she booked a ticket, packed her bags with some of her Lilly favorites and jetted down to Miami Beach for a long weekend to visit friend and former Palmette, Danielle.

If you, too, are sick of the cold weather and are planning a weekend getaway or a mid-winter vacation to palm trees and blue skies, here are some must-have items to take on your trip…

Pair the gorgeous Iona shell with any white bottoms – jeans, capris, shorts or a skirt – and you’re all set to explore Miami! It’s the perfect outfit for lunch with a girlfriend in Coconut Grove or shopping at Bal Harbour. And when you’re back home, wear it with a blazer to work or jeans and a Bryn cardigan for a night out with friends. The Iona is a Pink Palm favorite!

Iona Shell | Behind the Gates | $148
Worth Skinny | Resort White | $158
Rebecca Minkoff | Mini MAC bag | $195
J. Crew | Classic pave link bracelet | $125
Accessories | J.Crew wedges | Chanel sunglasses

Danielle:
Delia Shift | Bright Navy Fountain Hopping | $198
Accessories | Tiffany & Co. necklace | J.Crew bracelets

Meeting friends for happy hour in South Beach? The Alyssa top is a great choice – its super versatile and can be dressed up with accessories or dressed down with shorts and flip-flops for a more casual look. It’s easy to wear and will be a go-to piece all spring and summer long.

Alyssa Top | Pop Pink | $108
Riley Infinity Loop | Iris Blue Chablis | $78
Patio Clutch (similar) | Gold Metallic | $88
Stella & Dot | Somervell Necklace | $59

Danielle:
Tria Maxi (summer 2013) | Cha Cha | $158
Accessories: J.Crew bracelet

The Matyson can be worn on its own as a dress or as a stylish beach cover-up that will transition nicely into grabbing a bite to eat or exploring the city once you are done soaking up the rays. Made out of a soft jersey fabric, it is also super comfortable.

Matyson Dress | Bright Navy Escape Artist | $138
Accessories | Maui Jim sunglasses

The Dakota Zip Up Hoodie is a great basic piece to have in your wardrobe, but it is no ordinary zip up – it has beautiful details. The Dakota has great texture, zipped pockets and a feminine peplum ruffle at the back. It’s perfect to snuggle up in on the plane or to throw on for a breezy sunrise walk on the beach.
Dakota Zip Up Hoodie | Resort White | $128
Beach Shorts (summer 2013) | A Little Tipsy | $54 (look out for the Hayden Skirt, $68, in stores on March 4 – it’s a new skirt version of the beloved Beach Shorts from last summer!)
