Meet Brittney | Alexandria's Store Manager

Have you been to our Old Town Alexandria store recently? Did you notice how GREAT it looks? We have the super cute and creative Brittney to thank for that! She joined our staff a few months ago as Dual Store Manager of Pink Palm and Natty Beau and we are beyond excited to have her around! Brittney is not only a merchandising genius, but also a talented artist who enjoys painting Lilly prints on fun things like cornhole boards and TOMS shoes in her spare time. Find out more about our newest Pink Palmette below and definitely stop by Pink Palm Alexandria soon to officially welcome her!

"Life is a party! ...And I love to dress like it. I've been a Lilly Lover since my early days of sun and sandy toes growing up in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. When I moved to Alexandria with my fiance and two fluffy goldens, I traded in the surfboard for barre classes and marathons around this beautiful city. When I'm not delighting in all of the wonderful Lilly looks we have at the store, I'm busy planning my Italian wedding and exciting events we have coming up at The Pink Palm. So come stop in! I can't wait to meet you."

What are some of your likes and/or hobbies?
I love to travel, paint and go to barre class!

What is the best advice you have ever been given?
“A fool with a plan can outsmart a genius with no plan any day.”

What is your favorite Lilly print of all time?
There are so many! But there is a special place in my heart for Big Squeeze and Peel and Eat!

What is your favorite movie?
I love all the Marvel movies, but Thor is my favorite!

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?
To our home in Italy, it’s my favorite place in the world!

If you think life as a Pink Palmette is right up your alley, you are in luck! We are currently hiring at several of our locations!

Meet Tanya | McLean's New Assistant Manager

Introducing the lovely and talented Tanya! She is the new Assistant Manager in our McLean location. Tanya has worked as a Sales Associate at Pink Palm in the past, but now she is moving up the ranks! With her super friendly personality, great attention to detail and dedicated work ethic, we recognized early on that Tanya was management material! Lucky for us, she accepted the challenge.  Get to know Tanya a bit better below and next time you are in McLean, please stop by to say hello to her!

"Having grown up in South Carolina, I love anything related to warm weather, southern drawls, the beach, sweet tea, and sunshine...which is probably why I love working at Pink Palm so much! When I am not working, you can find me doing something outside, whether it’s listening to live music, walking around Old Town Alexandria, or enjoying a glass of champagne with friends in D.C. I love good southern barbeque, oyster roasts, and Virginia Tech football."

If you could have one super power, what would it be?
Teleportation, so I can travel the world whenever I want.

What are some of your hobbies/likes?
Traveling, brunching, champagne, playing cornhole and bocce ball on the beach, corny wedding dance moves (my go-to is the shopping cart), and a really good Mojito.

What is your favorite movie?
Top Gun...of course.

What is the best advice you have ever been given?
I once asked my Grandma how she and my Grandpa have kept such a great relationship during their 62 years of marriage, she told me “Don’t sweat the small stuff.”

Think Tanya's job could also be the job for you? The good news is that we are looking for an Assistant Manager in our Bethesda location as well! Please send your resume to pinkpalmbethesda@gmail.com if you are interested.

InVestment Pieces: The Allie Packable and Getaway Quilted Vests

All-Time Classics, Closet Staples, Investment Pieces— call them what you may but there are certain items a Palmette needs in her colorful yet versatile closet. We are always on the Lilly Look-Out for double duty pieces that wear well for Pink Palm work and play. Upon surveying the new Resort shipment, all of the Palmettes agree that it’s about time to invest in an Allie Packable Vest!

While Resort may have brought us utter puffer perfection in the form of the Allie Packable, a few Palmettes were quick to point out that Fall’s most flawless Getaway Quilted is a viable vest contender. How could have we forgotten?! In this post, we'll be comparing the Allie Packable (below on the left) and Getaway Quilted (below on the right) Vests in order to help all of our distressed Palmettes make an educated purchase.

The Allie Packable Vest is the newest outerwear addition to the Resort '14 collection and in our humble opinion, one of the best buys of the season! While this vest has traditional, puffer style quilting, the designers over at LP have updated it with slimming detailing, as the outer seams arch inward to create a more feminine silhouette. Lined in the punchy Fishing for Compliments print, the Allie Packable is as bright and cheery as it is warm and toasty! Filled with a cloud weight combination of 90% Down and 10% Feather, this combination provides a Palmette with 650 Fill Power, ensuring that you'll be sufficiently bundled up (take a look at that THICK collar) without having to sacrifice style.

If all of these features don't have you convinced that this vest is the absolute best, here's what we love most about the Allie Packable-- the interior pocket doubles as a nifty pouch to hold your vest. Yes, you read that correctly. Your vest. The Allie Packable can be packed up promptly and thrown into your Lilly Resort Tote for later use, making it perfect for Palmettes with plans to travel (Hello, Palm Beach Spring Buy!). You'll be through TSA in no time AND wrinkle-free to boot, as the fabric smooths itself out once pulled out of its pouch.

Alright, alright, alright...while this Palmette has clearly swooned over the Allie Packable, we must move on to discuss the former's chic contender, the Getaway Quilted. The Getaway Quilted is the new classic of the Fall '14 collection with that fresh from the paddocks feel. Throw this equestrian-style gilet over a Maria Boatneck top and Worth Skinnies and you have a ensemble appropriate for either a low-key day at the office or Surfside margs with the girls! With luxurious gold hardware at the two outer pockets and sleek zipper overlay, the Getaway Quilted has a double zip, which allows the Palmette a choice in coverage.

Whether a mid-zip or full zip with a buttoned-up collar, this vest is the ultimate in casual-chic. Lined in the Fall '14 Print Favorite, Hot Spot, the Getaway Quilted is a Palmette Pick for our Thanksgiving Day outfit (I know, we're thinking ahead on this one). With an expandable waistband, you can sport both a cinched, tailored fit for family photos and a comfy, relaxed fit after the big feast. Rest assured, you'll be the cutest couch potato this Thanksgiving wearing the Getaway Quilted!

The Buzz on Barbour

As we bid the month of October farewell, we all must begin to accept the undeniable truth that winter is coming. Although we are sad to say goodbye to the mild temperatures the first half of autumn offered us, this seasonal transition has all of the Palmettes pining for the latest and greatest in outerwear. Making its debut to the Pink Palm floors, this brand’s neutral hues of Navy and Olive are in stark contrast to the ever-present pops of Lilly Pulitzer Hotty Pink and Fern Green. If you haven’t already guessed (cross out “Googled”) it, allow us the pleasure of introducing Barbour, a perennial favorite of the equestrian and prep sets.

Hailing from the tony countryside of South Shields, Barbour is a British heritage brand. Spanning five generations, the family-owned and operated business continues to manufacture its classic wax coats alongside oxfords and knitwear, expanding the brand while retaining its mission to produce functional clothing that invokes “grit and glamour.”

Skerne Shirt | $129

Waxed or quilted, tartan or fleece-lined, The Pink Palm has a range of outerwear styles suitable for all types of inclement weather. However, if you’re aiming to sport the most classic of Barbour coats, here are three versatile styles to throw over your Elsa of the Month and Travel Pants:

The Beadnell
The Beadnell is the classic Barbour waxed coat, with the Olive being the most popular of preferences. Weatherproof from snow and rain, the Beadnell also comes in Navy and Rustic and is lined in a color-coordinating tartan. Wishing for more warmth from winter’s frigid temperatures? We’ve got you covered! The Pink Palm carries the Zip-In Liner in both the fleece-lined and quilted styles.

The Beadnell Polarquilt
Car coat perfection: the Navy Beadnell Polarquilt sports a chic corduroy collar and quintessential Barbour tartan lining. So roll up your sleeves to let that tartan peek!

The Cavalry Polarquilt
Fleece-lined. Need we say more? The Cavalry Polarquilt comes in an array of hues: Dark Brown, Pearl, and Indigo. With a cinched, elastic band waist, this coat has a tailored fit for customers seeking a more slimming style.

Meet me "Under the Palms" and let’s soak up a gorgeous sun–filled day. Our newest print is all about the stripey nature of Florida palm leaves! If you look close enough, you'll find one of our favorite animals‚ the zebra, hidden in the background. The best part about the print is that it comes in blue, green and pink - a color for every Lilly Lover out there. Just because we aren't spending this Fall in the Sunshine State, doesn't mean we can't dress like we are!

Worth Skinny | Resort White | $158

Elsa Top | New Green Under The Palms | $158

Lilly Lover

Let us introduce you to one of our favorite Lilly Lovers, Kathryn! She is fun, flirty and will always brighten up a room. She displays elegance in all outfits but sass as the same time! But Hey, isn’t that what a Lilly girl is all about!
