Lilly Loves Lauder

Celebrate the collaboration of two iconic brands with an evening of glamour and fun at our annual Lilly Loves Lauder event!

For the second year in a row, Lilly Pulitzer and Estée Lauder have joined together to create a collection of gorgeous limited edition gifts with purchase available at different retailers around the country. Each of the seven retailer-exclusive cosmetic bags features a print inspired by the Palm Beach lifestyle and are stocked full of sample-size makeup and skin care essentials.

This year Pink Palm is partnering with Bloomingdales to host a special night for customers from 5-7pm on Friday, March 28, in our Bethesda and McLean locations. Stop by either store to chat with a team of Estée Lauder beauty advisors about skincare regimens, receive a complimentary makeover, or just simply shop with girlfriends while sipping champagne and nibbling on tasty treats!

Lilly Loves Lauder attendees will be able to reserve the Bloomingdales gift (available in stores starting April 2) with any $45 Estée Lauder purchase. Last year these collectible bags sold out almost immediately, so the best way to guarantee you get your hands on one is though a pre-sale event! Those who reserve the Estée Lauder gift will receive a surprise "thank you" from The Pink Palm as well.

Pink Palm Loves Kappa!

Now anyone who is from the South knows a lady puts pride into her pig roast outfit.  So naturally you are drawn to the nearest Lilly store in hopes of the perfect dress.  The University of Richmond Kappa girls and Pink Palm came together and decided to have a party highlighting the new Greenbrier shipment and even better, preparing for the PIG ROAST.  Your typical Southern Roast may entail an atmosphere of pastels, pork, oversized hats, painted coolers, bubbly and of course, looking polished in your favorite Lilly!

We are honored to introduce you to our Richmond Lilly Lover, Katie K. Her love for bright colors attracted her to the brand when she was just a "Minnie", which led her Lilly collection and loyalty to the brand. Just entering the world of "Hadley", she has accumulated a passion for law. However, you will ALWAYS find this girl with a splash of Lilly under her blazer. Now, let us share our Lilly Lover with you!

1. When did Lilly Pulitzer first strike your attention and why?
I grew up wearing Lilly because of my family's love for the brand. While attending UVA in Charlottesville, my Lilly collection started to rapidly grow by shopping at Pink Palm every chance I could!

2. What was your first piece of Lilly?
My personal first pick was a halter top dress in Southern Belle that I adore so much to this day. #youneverforgetyourfirst

3. What is your favorite print of all time?
Alberta Gator would be my favorite print because I went to the University of Florida for Law School and love representing them! Go Gators!

4. What is your favorite season of Lilly and why?
Spring, the weather is warm and you know summer is right around the corner. I also think the Spring Collection has the most classic pieces, however, I love them all!

5. If you could sit down and drink bubbly with Lilly herself, what would you ask her?
How she managed to remain so down to earth while achieving such great success being the fashion icon she is.

6. What is your favorite Lilly Pulitzer quote?
Life's a Party, Dress Like It!

7. With Lilly being around since the 1950's her styles have changed with current times. Would you say you are more of a traditional Lilly Lover or the Lilly Lover that breaks the rules and can't wait for the next cheeky print?
It depends if you catch me on Monday morning or Friday night. I think you really can be both with incorporating pieces in your daily work attire and for your girls night out!

8. What is your favorite current item?
The Liz Shift, it's getting back to her roots and the vintage appeal that I am always on the hunt for!

9. If you could have a Lilly Pulitzer store one day what would be the name?
The Pink Elephant because my favorite animal is an Elephant.

10. What does being a Lilly Lover mean to you?
It means living a colorful life and displaying love and grace like Lilly herself. One of her many quotes that really speaks to me, "If you haven't any charity in your heart, you have the worst kind of heart trouble". It's very inspiring that she loved to give back so much while having so much success in her life.

Fashion Show | Langley High School

On Saturday, February 22, Langley High School's Fashion Marketing Program put on their 24th annual fashion show for an audience of nearly 1,000 people. Planned, coordinated and executed by fashion marketing students in just two short months, the show features over a dozen scenes with student and faculty models showcasing clothing from local stores and boutiques. 

Pink Palm McLean has a longstanding partnership with the LHS Fashion Marketing Program and has been providing ensembles for over a decade. This year, Pink Palm contributed seven key looks for a tea party scene and models strutted down the runway in fun, chic styles from our spring and resort collections. 

Amanda and Christine, both part-time sales associates in McLean and students in the program, worked extremely hard to make the show a success. Amanda choreographed and directed a scene as well as acted as liaison for all faculty scenes, while Christine designed the event program and crew t-shirts. Congrats on a fabulous show, girls!

Back & Better Than Ever!

We always find it hard to dress for the transition between seasons, especially when winter thaws and spring begins to bloom. Bundling up in the morning ensures you are sweating to death by noon. Here at the Pink Palm we suggest investing in pieces that you can layer! Every once in a while Lilly will bring back a style from previous seasons. We were so excited about the revival of the Briella Dress that two of our Palmettes, Mary Catharine and Kristina, decided to celebrate a warm day by donning the dress for an afternoon of fun.

The Briella is comfortable and easy to throw on while still looking put together.  You can dress it down with Jack Rogers for day or add wedges with a stack of bracelets for a night out.  For those chilly days in March, wear it with boots and layer a cardigan or blazer over it.  This dress will become a year round staple in any Lilly lovers wardrobe!

Lilly Shower

As several of the Palmettes are prepping for a Pink Palm bridal shower this weekend, the search for the perfect outfit has been the talk of the shop. Any event with tea sandwiches, a bride to be, and a group of celebrating Palmettes is bound to have some Lilly. Finding the perfect bridal shower outfit is a piece of cake when you're surrounded by the new spring line. Although we adore all of the white lace dresses this season, we will leave those options for our lovely Bride to Be. 

The Shorely Blue Lori Dress in xo lace will 'shorely' be a hit at any bridal shower. The conservative neckline and girly shape of the Lori Dress make the perfect silhouette for a day-time celebration with ladies of all ages. 

Next, the Lottie Dress just screams bridal shower. The flouncy skirt and gentle pastels are sure to compliment our Lilly-loving brides' color scheme.

Farewell glacial weather and Hello Spring Break! Wherever your ship is guiding you this week -- rule breaking, vibrant colors, and cocktails should be on your itinerary.  We all endeavor relaxation during our island getaways so let's plan ahead!  We have picked two necessities for your trip, the Nicole Romper and the Hayden Beach Skirt.  Not only are these pieces well tailored, they are extremely comfortable, easy, and cute.  Transitioning from casual chic to a night out with your best friends is always an essential on vacays because we are on-the-go Lilly girls and are always up for a party!

Three Is Not Always A Crowd

The Spring 2014 collection takes us back to the beginning with inspirations from the life, home, and past creations of the party animal herself, Lilly Pulitzer. Full of vintage silhouettes patterned after the original shift dress and saturated in colors reminiscent of those she wore at the juice stand, we are having a hard time picking which print is our favorite!  One thing we do know is that we love the new Liz shift, which is available in three different prints! 

Despite the never ending cold weather, the Palmettes always try to look on the bright side of life, which is exactly what inspired one of our new favorite prints, Sunny Side. What's not to love about a classic pink and green Lilly print designed around the king of the jungle? It's sure to put a smile on your face! Not a typical Lilly girl, but love the idea of a lion print? Roar of the Jungle is the perfect fit for you! Filled with bold greens and vibrant blues, this print will make you feel fierce the second you put it on! The inspiration behind these wild prints came from Lilly's "jungle themed" backyard, made to stand out from the typical manicured Palm Beach lawn.  If there is anything Lilly set out to do it was break the rules and stand out, even when it came to her home! She was even known to have many cats roaming her property and mingling among her party guests. The print "Crazy Cat House" is a tribute to the felines who ruled her house and shift-filled closets.
